Community of self-reliant trees…

This blog is not about some weird Lord of The Rings Ents revival… Since the majority of the world’s population lives in urbanized areas, trees play a crucial role in our urban nature and adds values and enhances the quality of life in our neighborhoods.

Our urban forest also contribute to the economic well-‐being of cities. In fact the presence of mature trees in our neighborhoods can add significant value to our homes and increase traffic to local businesses.

A well treed urban area can help with heat mitigation by adding shade in areas of high pedestrian use reducing the amount of UV-B reaching pedestrians BENEFITS OF THE URBAN FOREST

Our urban forests can help reduce the impacts of air pollutants. Trees remove particulates, sulfur dioxide, ozone and other air pollutants that are problems in some cities. Like all forests, urban forests remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. eXtension

In conclusion, urban forests add values and improves quality of life. Living in a large city I see this value every day..
